Cosa vedrai

Itinerary
Pedal in total relaxation above the imposing Renaissance walls that surround the city and discover a labyrinth of tree-lined towers and Romanesque churches in the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini.
Day 1: The Walls and the Holy Face
Morning: Rent a bicycle (Lucca's favorite means of transportation) and tour the entire Walls of Lucca: a 4 km elevated tree-lined avenue that encircles the historic center. Then descend to visit the Cathedral of San Martino, which houses the mysterious "Volto Santo" crucifix and the funerary monument of Ilaria del Carretto.
Lunch: Sample Tordelli Lucchesi, a fresh pasta stuffed with meat and topped with a flavorful ragù, accompanied by a glass of red wine from the Lucca hills.
Afternoon: Visit the Church of San Michele in Foro, with its soaring and intricate façade. Stroll along Via Fillungo, the elegant shopping street, admiring the Art Nouveau windows of the old cafes and shops.
Day 2: Towers and Amphitheatres
Morning: Climb the Guinigi Tower, unique in the world because centuries-old holm oaks grow on its top: the view over the red roofs of the city is iconic. Continue to the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, an oval square built on the remains of a Roman arena, perfect for taking photos.
Lunch: Try the Garmugia (spring soup) or a slice of Cecina (low chickpea cake), the Tuscan street food par excellence.
Afternoon: Visit the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, the great opera composer. Then enter the Basilica of San Frediano to admire the large golden mosaic on the facade, a rare example of this style in Tuscany.
Giorno 3: Giardini e Dolcezza
