Day 3: The Basilica in the pine forest
Morning: Take a bus or car a few kilometers south to visit the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe. Surrounded by greenery, it boasts one of the world's most beautiful apse mosaics, depicting a heavenly garden with symbolic sheep.
Lunch: Enjoy grilled "saraghina" (a typical blue fish) or a plate of passatelli in broth.
Afternoon: If the weather is nice, rent a bike and ride through the Pineta di Classe (mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy) to the sea. Alternatively, return to the city center and visit the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra, an underground archaeological site featuring floors from an ancient Byzantine palace.
