Day 3: The Beautiful Village and the Sweetness of Perugia
Morning: Explore the Borgo XX Giugno neighborhood, known as "Borgo Bello." Visit the imposing Basilica of San Domenico, the largest church in Umbria, with its enormous stained-glass window. Continue to the Monumental Complex of San Pietro: the interior is so rich in artwork it feels like a museum, and its cloisters house a charming Medieval Garden.
Lunch: Remain in this authentic neighborhood for lunch at an osteria serving legume soups (such as Fagiolina del Trasimeno) or game-based main courses typical of Umbrian cuisine.
Afternoon: Perugia is the city of chocolate. If you have a car, visit the Casa del Cioccolato Perugina in San Sisto to see the Baci chocolate factory. Alternatively, stay in the center and descend into the Etruscan Well, a 37-meter-deep masterpiece of hydraulic engineering, then end your journey with a hot chocolate or a dessert in one of the historic pastry shops on Corso Vannucci (such as Pasticceria Sandri).
