Architectural Features:
Arena and Hypogeum: The elliptical arena, once covered with sand, was the stage for the gladiatorial contests. Beneath the arena lay the hypogeum, a network of tunnels and chambers where gladiators, animals, and props were housed, waiting to be hoisted to the stage via a complex system of lifts and trapdoors.
Seating Tiers: The Colosseum had a tiered seating system, with different sections designated for various social classes. The highest tier offered seating for the common citizens, while the lower tiers were reserved for the elite.
